Ah, December!
After a packed promotional week surrounding Black Friday, Thanksgiving, and Cyber Monday we are just getting back into the groove of things. The shop staff is hammering out their normal week of custom orders and our sales team is ironing things out after the holiday sales. We are thrilled to see so many of you jump into the fun and purchase some of our heavily discounted products over the last ten days. Perhaps a sign of some new Maker’s breaking into the art, our Knifemaker Start Kits containing a bar of 100-layer “starter” damascus and a gallon of our HIT etchant, Gator Piss sold like hot-cakes. To those trying out our Damascus OR Gator Piss for the first time, don’t forget to tag us on socials with your progress, we love joining in the learning process with you. If you missed the sale and want to put together your own Knifemaker Starter Kit, click here for starter Damascus and here for Gator Piss!
With the multitude of promotional emails to send out, we took the weekend off with our
normal Friday Newsletter in hopes of not overrunning you with content. However, the quick week and Thursday holiday made for pretty poor “Behind the Scenes” content, anyway. It’s good to be back and in the swing of our normal schedule, regardless! You may have noticed a new face on socials as we welcome Sloan onto our shop staff as the new Blanchard Operator. A friend of local Maker, R.L Scott, Sloan has been introduced to blacksmithing, lending a hand with the production of Ryan’s knives, but he will primarily man the finish grind station. A comedian around the HQ, Sloan truly brings an admirable spirit to our staff and we are stoked to bring him into our tight-knit work family.
With Christmas right around the corner, we have recently revisited our Baker Gift Cards.
These gift cards serve as a perfect option for the Maker in your life. Whether they need another round of Gator Piss or simply want to try out one of our materials, these cards can be applied to any item on the website. With our easy-to-use form, simply fill out your information, or the information of the person receiving the card and your DONE! Find them here.
Inside the Media
The sense of “coming down” from the week of sales was REAL for our media team, from the constant sales-update to the obligatory holiday graphics, it was all a blur. Having sat down on Monday morning to take a collective exhale, Waylon and I were both excited to get back to a bit of the entertaining and fun content that has built our great company. So… we posted a controversial Bacon-related question. Gooofy, we know, but these posts spur discussion, inspire passion, and truly set our little community ablaze, we enjoy every moment of it. This particular question came in the form of a plea to get more opinions. Aparently this particular point of contention between Boss-Man, Coy, and Knifemaking LEGEND, Greyson of Grey Blades, had caused quite a rukus between the two normally frinendly men. Thanks to the voices of our community we got to the bottom of it and can proudly say we stand with the "crispy" bacon folks.
Digging a bit deeper on BTS media production, we are branching into a bit more longform as 2024 winds down. From longer tool breakdowns and innovative R&D to compelling stories following some of the best in the business, the future of long-form media for Baker is bright, and as things trickle out we will be sure to share bits and pieces across socials for you to enjoy!
