Perhaps due to the days of research and development following hurricane Helene, or maybe it was just a general drive to create new and dynamic products, but the weeks following Hurricane Helene have produced a slew of insane new innovations for us. After recently introducing our new-and-improved Diamond pattern, the guys are back this weekend with a BRAND new layout! The progress leading up to this jump had us BUZZING early in the week. Custom orders went out in a flash and production “forged” ahead of schedule.
We welcomed a new toy to the HQ recently and hosted a quick livestream last weekend to debut it to you. Not only do we believe Tobin Machines has a great idea going with this well-designed Rolling Mill, we are really impressed with the capabilities thus far. In their words, high thickness reduction is a common and yet one of the most time consuming steps in traditional forging. Especially the forging of damascus steel often requires the blacksmith to reduce material from 60mm to as low as 3mm thickness. The best machine to speed up this process is a rolling mill as it offers a quick and precise way of reshaping hot metals. Free of noise and vibration, this RM-1 model offers all of the benefits you seek in a rolling mill but in a compact and expertly constructed compact profile. We’re stoked to be working with Tobin and excited to introduce this machine to you! Stay tuned for more upcoming content showing off the abilities Tobin has packed into this thing.

Our week’s long annual “Steel Showdown” came to a close on Saturday as viewers were offered the final choices between RipTide Ultra - Ripple and OG RipTide - Ripple. Two CLASSIC RipTide layouts and too (perhaps expected) finalists. After an exceptionally close vote, the OG RipTide - Ripple took the crown as this year’s TOP Baker Steel according to YOU, the customer. We won’t pretend we didn’t know this one was popular, but we are glad to proudly amplify it as a Baker Forge flagship layout following this confirmation! We promised to release a batch of whatever steel ended up taking the crown, and we still plan to live up to it. But in the meantime, the conveniently timed release of a BRAND NEW RipTide variant fell right into our laps for this weekend and we couldn't stand to hold off another day before releasing it to the public. So in appreciation for EVERYTHING the RipTide layout represents to our brand, enjoy our newest adaption THIS WEEKEND.

With so much growth and development coming down the pipe within our company these past few weeks, Waylon and I have been working overtime. But in the world of supplying our viewers with fun and entertaining content each and every day, it’s nice to have plenty of new and exciting stuff to talk about as opposed to simply brainstorming random ideas. There is SO MUCH cool sh*t we are working on, so stay tuned as things come through!
In the meantime, we dropped in on Shop Lead, Jay Baker earlier this week to get an update from the manufacturing team. Jay, like many of us at Baker, was tentative toward the camera when we got started, but after years of Waylon sneaking around taking videos all the time Jay has really become a comfortable host for quick video updates. Reinforcing the similarities that bind him and Boss Man Coy together as brothers.
Early in the week Waylon and I tossed around the idea of “What happens to a billet after someone purchases it from Baker.” An idea that I assumed might feature some collection of clips describing the stages following your order and ending with a customer receiving our material. Like many of our videos, however, Waylon took the concept to new heights. Masterfully crafting a Chef Boyardee style stop-motion video that absolutely hits our idea out of the park. Stay tuned to watch Waylon’s reel on Friday’s socials!
