Hello SWEET relief!
After all our b*tching and moaning about the heat, some rain came through the
Appalachian Mountains this week and reminded us why we love this (albeit foggy and humid) place. The nearly constant rain this week cooled off the shop dramatically and put us in the mood to get some stuff done.
We kicked the week off with a substantial goal for the Saturday drop; a bold new stitch-shim layout we have been refining for several months. Unfortunately, no innovation comes without challenges. And this week reminded us of that. After a full week of production, our quality control department concluded that this concoction needed something more before we could bring it to our customers. It hurt a little not to be able to release this exciting new bar that we have been working so hard to get to yall, but in its place, the shop guys are offering up something that ALWAYS sells out in moments….
We brought on a new hire to add to our band of Smith’s at the shop. Bob, a local to the area, is already finding his place in the shop, and doing a great job learning the ropes! Look out for this new character on our socials in the coming months, afterall, having your face in a few goofy places on our socials is kind of a requirement for work at Baker these days.
Speaking of socials, our resident Media Expert, Waylon dreamed up a funny idea this week that we just HAD to put together. Stay tuned for our “Planet Earth” style short-documentary featuring narration by industry pillar and Aussie native, Alex Norton of Valhalla Ironworks. Like so much of what goes out on our socials, this little project is meant to entertain and make you laugh, so let us know what you think!

Every month or two we accumulate enough of our end-cut scraps to offer “End Cut Bundles” to our customers. Over time these bundles have grown to such popularity we almost considered chopping whole billets for you hungry little bundle-hounds!
Back with perhaps our most exciting scraps ever, grab either Damascus OR CopperMascus bundles and look out for some HUGE cut-offs from a custom order. As always, we love to see what y'all create with these little morsels, so be sure to tag us with your creations!
