SALE OF THE SUMMER & Chris Cash DELIVERS! TFN

It’s TSUNAMI SALE week, and the waves have been CRASHING!

This week has certainly been marked by perhaps the most ambitious sale we have ever offered. Buy 1 of any bar on the website and get ANY Tsunami pattern for HALF off OR buy any 2 bars and get Tsunami for FREE! This exciting sale came up as an opportunity to get some Tsunami back in the hands of our makers at a nice, budget-friendly price-point and we couldn’t be more excited to drop it and see how it goes. Stay tuned in the early hours of tomorrow morning for your first chance to get in on this HUGE summer sale!

This week we welcomed a big addition to the shop floor; a new 1987 Chambersberg High Frame Powerhammer. This 12 foot tall, 22,000lb BEAST originally ran on steam, but we plan to run it on compressed air. With 750lb of ram weight, nearly double the weight of our current powerhammer, the Chambersberg is likely to be a landmark upgrade for our current production abilities. Look out for bigger, badder things on the horizon once we get this bad boy operational!

Huge thanks to Chris Cash from MT Phillips Metalworks for once again restoring and providing this machine for us. Without him, we couldn’t acquire the tools necessary to do what we do! Now, stay tuned to see us pour ANOTHER even LARGER foundation to act as a resting (or maybe not resting) place for this new staple employee!

In other tool news- the new (to us) Blanchard that arrived only a few weeks back has experienced some significant setbacks. After a weekend spent disassembling, it became clear that we had parts that would need sending-off before our dual-flatgrinding setup run at full-capacity. Setbacks are common when working with these big, and often old, machines, and the chance to disassemble the machine taught us a lot. We’ll have this thing running like a top in a few weeks, just you watch!

The End-Cut extravaganza last week was a whirlwind. We sold out again, this time in record fashion. Bringing to light some concerns for our ability to evenly distribute these little nuggets of small-blade gold to all of you eager Makers. So, questerday we launched a little poll on instagram offering customers two potential options for offering these End-Cuts. Would you rather we take pre-orders for these bundles and fulfill orders chronologically as we produce them, OR remain with the current sporadic drop model for end-cuts? We want to hear from YOU on this topic so we can continue to provide this classic product to all of those interested, so please, speak up in the poll & comments. You can find that post here!

Stay tuned tomorrow as we release the first of MANY rounds in our brand new “STEEL SHOWDOWN” bracket on socials! Our goal with this competition is to offer you the chance to rank your favorite Baker Forge Steels! Narrated by the silky-smooth voice of Brain from HouseMade, this interactive bracket will be a great way to gauge interest in different layouts from over the years and maybe, just maybe, we’ll drop the overall 2024 Steel Showdown winner on the site to celebrate the results! So jump in tomorrow and have your voice heard!

Last but not least, you can catch Baker’s Media Team on the Hustle And Grind podcast this week hosted by Ryan Coakley from Ryan Chadbourne Knifeworks and Noah Bloomberg of the Entiat River Forge. In the episode Waylon and I (John) discuss our various techniques for knife-photography, the ins and outs of social media marketing, and a bunch of other media and marketing related topics chosen to help you, the Maker! You can find the episode here.
