In a brief respite from the unusually heavy winter season, our region received the relief of some sunnier, warmer days this week. I won’t lie to you, our staff is a hardy bunch and the snow didn’t much bother us, but something about that vitamin D streaming through the trees on the morning drive to work has us all a little more chipper than usual.
Along with the first reminders of spring, so came a pretty big personal announcement from our fearless leader, Coy Baker. Who along with his wife, Hunter announced the coming addition of a third child. Juliet Rae Baker, expected this summer, is an exciting addition to our big Baker family and we couldn't be more excited for Coy, Hunter, and the kids. More potential future Blacksmith legends!
It's always motivating to see our company name pop up in industry articles, but this full spread of our CEO & Founder, Coy, in Blade Magazine sure made us grin. We owe a great deal of our success to the many friends & supporters who have helped us along the way. This, and all future recognition should reflect first on our awesome customers and friends, our dedicated staff, and of course the families behind-the-scenes feeding and keeping us all happy!
With an energetic week of custom orders and drop material already under our belts, the production team received another run of INSANE hawks from Half Face Blades. After producing the billets used for these tomahawks, we send the material back cross-country where Half Face takes the next steps in production, and finally send them back to us where we finish-grind and heat treat. Being part of this exceptional product and partnering with companies like Half Face really inspires our work and motivates our growth. After all, seeing our material being used in impressive products like this is a highlight of what we do!
With the bulk of our production week now behind us, Head Engineer, Cole and Boss-Man, Coy are in the HQ today testing out some new concepts with ball barring canister damascus. A hidden highlight of the slower weeks, these R&D sessions are truly what keeps us ahead of the game. We are surely blessed to have such a well-rounded and complimentary staff of knowledgeable blacksmiths behind our products. Lot’s and lot’s coming from 2025, and you will ALWAYS find out about the developments here FIRST!
Inside the Media
Slowed by a foot injury this week, Waylon Hagaman made lemonade from lemons this week,
kicking ass with a massive lineup of studio work on his plate. Perhaps you caught it on Wednesday, but we threw together a little reel featuring some Behind-The-Scenes perspectives on our test blade process. Each week prior to dropping a brand new layout or pattern, our team works some BTS magic, sending a billet out to Jordon from JB Blades in Texas. Jordan then makes a test blade and shoots it back to Baker HQ where our resident photographer, Waylon takes it into the studio for a full round of promotional products. Some weeks are smoother than others, but it’s the little things that count, and this seldom mentioned aspect of new material drops was one we felt was deserving of a little praise after several heavy weeks in a row for the duo. If you missed it, jump on our socials and check it out!
If you’re interested in having a recent project photographed/videoed, we are now offering professional studio sessions in various package-options at BakerForgeStudios.com
