Happy Friday, Makers!
The month of December is flying by, with less than two weeks until Christmas, we can feel the Knifemaking community heating up in advance of the big day. Following our Black Friday sales, there has been a slow build of exciting projects popping up across socials and the creativity is truly palpable.
To get creative with it on our own end, Baker Boss, Coy continued some R&D with a
stainless twist damascus this week. One step closer to a future Baker offering, this session was more than productive and the bar Coy cooked up has been sent to a small handful of Maker’s to test. The first annual Baker Forge company Christmas party took place last weekend as members of the Baker family hosted the entire company as well as local Maker’s, R.L Scott, Josh from Primitive Woodsman, and Kyle from Tepfer Armory for a meal and holiday gathering. A perfect mountaintop evening accommodated by whiskey, cigars, and homemade eggnog. The evening was a great chance to connect with our team and give thanks for another successful year together. After all, Baker is a family run business, and getting the whole family together was a reminder of our blessings. Inside the Media
After we gave him a little shit in weeks past, Coy welcomed the media team into this recent R&D session with stainless damascus, allowing us for the first time to professionally film the project. In the past, Baker Boss, Coy works on these things over the weekend when shop staff are home and machines are available. Usually uploading a self-made reel that breaks records among our content. With the chance to finally put his skills to work on our most highly-anticipated project, Waylon knocked it out of the park with his reel. Giving this massive undertaking the hardcore edit it deserves. This research and development side of the business certainly verges on the most entertaining for our customers, and we were stoked to have the chance to take you a little deeper in the process this week.
Firmly back in the snow-season in our little mountain town, we opted to ask social media viewers “What is your favorite winter activity?” with this Monday’s questionnaire. By avoiding the term “sport” we hoped to inspire an answer from those that don’t necessarily ski/snowboard but enjoy other aspects of the winter months (such as free AC around the shop). Your answers were a blast, and hearing about all of the hobbies and gripes of our community is among our favorite parts of the week. Stay tuned next week for another banger question.
