Ah, the week leading up to Christmas is upon us at last. We say it plenty, but this time it’s all too real; this month FLEW the hell by. Feels like just yesterday was the first of December and here we are staring down the year 2025. Regardless, the weeks leading up to our Christmas break inspired the manufacturing staff, who built up quite a head start on the next month’s drop schedule in advance of the break. Head starts mean more R&D, more intrusive and engaging media, and of course, plenty of fun to keep things light in our high-output, hard-working environment.
Our Knife-Maker Starter Kits over Black Friday had the 200-layer Starter Damascus FLYING out of the door. After a few fervent requests for a restock, we decided on dropping something a little different this week, both to appease those hoping for a straight Damascus restock, and those that might desire a lower-cost budget-friendly option as we wind down into the Christmas break. We hope you’ll take the opportunity to stock up on a bar and, as always, tag us on social media with your progress & projects!
This close to our week off for Christmas, the vibe around Baker HQ could certainly be defined as “anxious for the time off.” After all, the hustle from Thanksgiving leading up to Christmas has had the shop staff working at full capacity. A good reminder that our business is sustained by a whole family of hard working folks, doing everything they can to assist in our growth and success as a company. The time off is MORE than deserved, and we look forward to returning stronger than ever and ready to tackle the new year with the same vigor and passion for this community!
As a final project for the week, we made some sweeping changes to BakerForge.com,
mostly to improve site latency which had several pages loading slowly, and overall bogged down the website experience. Now with key changes sitewide, we anticipate a smooth and easier shopping experience. As business owners, many of you know these challenges intimately, and thus can vouch for how beneficial these updates can be for the overall customer experience. If this kind of thing is up your alley, check out the updates here!
Inside the Media
It was a quieter week for the media team, not because we didn’t have our hands full, but rather because we did. After a few weeks of production, we are stoked to release a longform YouTube video going over the new Tobin RM-1 Rolling Mill we recently acquired. In the video Baker Boss, Coy, and Shop Lead, Jay introduce, breakdown, and test out this newly available personal rolling mill, putting every aspect of its operation to the test. The results were STUNNING, and we can’t wait to hear your feedback.
With that Tobin video at the highest of priority for several days, we snuck in a few reels of the busy production week around Baker HQ as well as preparing some Christmas-related media ahead of the week off. Even when the HQ lights are off, a handful of us are still working daily to supply you with the usual steel-smashing, goofy questions, and BTS looks that you have come to expect on socials from the Baker crew. The Christmas season typically produces some of our favorite content of the year, and with the shop staff tired & excited for the break, there'll be no hiding of true personalities!
